AT YOUR TABLE

A communion liturgy
in four sections or complete

by Naomi and Stephen

Chorus:

At your table we are gathered.

Hear, Lord Jesus, our thanks and praise!

1. All are invited here, come take your place!

Jesus, who knows you, welcomes you with grace.

Come with your weaknesses and with your fears.

Bring him your longings, all your hopes and dreams.

2. Lift up your hearts to him! Lift up your voice!

Lord you are worthy of our thanks and praise.
God loved the world so much he sent his Son.
Love has the victory; death is overcome.

            Chorus

3. This time and every time, you eat this meal,

do so remembering Jesus died for you.
For when you eat this bread and drink this cup

You are proclaiming Jesus ‘til he comes.

4. Blessing and breaking bread, Jesus gave thanks:

“This is my body given now for you.”

Sharing the cup of wine Jesus said, “drink -

my blood of promise poured out now for you.”

Chorus

5. Therefore with heaven and earth, angels and saints,

We bless and praise you; glory to your name:

            Bridge:

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY LORD
GOD OF POWER AND OF MIGHT;

EARTH AND HEAVEN ARE FULL OF YOU.

HOSANNA! GLORY IN THE HIGHEST!

BLESSED IS HE WHO,

COMES IN YOUR NAME,

HOSANNA! GLORY IN THE HIGHEST!

Bridge Descant:
Holy, holy, holy Lord

God of power & of might;

earth & heaven are full of you.

Hosanna! Glory in the highest!

blessed is he who,
comes in your name,

in the highest!

At your table we are gathered.

Hear, Lord Jesus, our thanks and praise!

6. Send now your Spirit Lord, fill us with grace;

may heaven’s glory meet us in this place:

Bridge:
Chorus

7. Here at your table, Lord, we have been fed;

through Christ united by the wine and bread.
Now, filled with gratitude, let us arise
and by your Spirit serve you with our lives.

AT YOUR TABLE

About the Hymn

This hymn was written as a communion liturgy.

It can be sung at any point while communion is being prepared or shared. Additionally any of the four sections can be used to add a musical section within a communion celebration.

Perhaps the Sanctus (Holy Holy) section works particularly well for this, allowing a congregation to fully enter into the celebration.  However some of the other sections are easier to learn initially, and can work as an introduction to the musical themes.

1. Invitation and Welcome

2. Remembrance and Institution

3. Sanctus and Epiclesis
(Holy holy, come Holy Spirit)

4. Closing prayer after communion.
